About MGNS >> Staff
I am so happy to be here at MGNS. After 3 years as a MGNS parent, I am thrilled to be a Penguin teacher in room 2 on Thursday and Friday mornings with the fabulous Jodi. Before my two children were born, I taught for several years grades between kindergarten and fourth. Now with my youngest child (a MGNS alumnus) in high school and my oldest in college, I am an involved school volunteer and I am also honored to serve as the school director for MGNS. It is a busy and perfect combination—I am so pleased to be a part of this cooperative community.

I am so excited to be starting another year at MGNS. I teach the Dolphins with Diana in the 4K classroom as well as the Seahorse class with Sherri in the afternoons. I am married with 2 active boys who are both MGNS alumni. I graduated from Drake University with a degree in Biology. In my free time I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family - camping, hiking, and playing pretty much any sport. I’m looking forward to a great year!

I am thrilled to be teaching the Penguin class at MGNS. I teach with Sue on Thursday and Friday mornings. I have 8 years of preschool teaching experience. I have an Elementary Education degree, from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse. Prior to working at MGNS, I taught 1st grade in Atlanta and Minneapolis. I am married, and have two wonderful kids, Sam and Claire who are MGNS alumni! I am looking forward to a wonderful, and exciting school year.

This year, I will be teaching the 4K morning class with Juli. I am a graduate from UW-Madison with a teaching degree in PreK-3rd grade. Before teaching at MGNS, I ran my own family day care for 7 years. My husband, Paul, and I have two children; both MGNS alumni, both of whom are college swimmers. When I’m not at work, I can often be found curled up with a good book or traveling the country & watching my children race.

I teach the Manatees in the afternoons with Marcia and the Starfish with Dawn on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings. I graduated from Winona State University in Winona, MN in 2010 with a teaching degree in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. Outside of the classroom I enjoy spending time with my puppy, Echo. I enjoy cooking and crafts as well as spending time with family and friends as much as possible. I look forward to another great year!

My name is Patrice Stadler and I will be teaching Toddler Time on Tuesday and Wednesday
mornings. This is my 8th year teaching at Monona Grove Nursery School. I have had the pleasure of teaching Toddler Time and preschool over the last 8 years. I received my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Northern Illinois University. My husband, Dennis, and I have three daughters (Marissa 21, Ashley 19, and Hannah 13) who all attended MGNS. We loved being part of a parent cooperative because it gave us the opportunity to be in our children's classrooms and get to know their teachers and friends. I jumped at the chance to teach at MGNS after my youngest started kindergarten and I feel so lucky to work with such wonderful families!

One of nine siblings -- with 14 nieces and nephews, 4 great-nieces and nephews -- I’ve spent my whole life around kids. As a teacher and Lunch Bunch coordinator, I enjoy conversations with young ones and creative play. You can’t miss my laugh! I love art projects, the messier the better, and I believe all art tells a story. I can think of no better way to use my degree in design from Southern Illinois University of Carbondale. I live in Madison with my family, including my two daughters who attended MGNS. Say hi if you see me at the Y and call me on the banana phone any time.

I am so excited to be joining Stephanie in the Starfish class this year! After moving from the west side of Madison to McFarland, we found MGNS for my youngest and in the 3 years we were here, it became like a family to us. I am so lucky that now I get to come back and be a part of this wonderful staff. I have a degree in Psychology from UW Madison. I am married and have two beautiful and very active daughters who will be starting 1st grade and 5th grade in the fall. In my infrequent free time I enjoy baking and I absolutely love to read (I have over 15 years of experience working with books). Please ask me about my favorite children's books!

My name is Stacey Neuman and I will be teaching Toddler Time on Friday mornings. This is my first year teaching at Monona Grove Nursery School, but I have been a part of the school for several years with my three children. Prior to having children, I worked in family homes and in a number of facilities with children who had an autism diagnosis. My passion is for our youngest learners, and toddler time is a great way for me to fulfill that passion. I love Toddler Time and look forward to meeting you!

Our daughter attended MGNS for 3 years of preschool/4K plus one session of Toddler Time. It was her favorite place. She loved going to school, seeing her friends, her wonderful teachers and getting to play and do so many fun things. Upon picking her up she would tell me EVERYTHING she did, what stories they read, what the art project was, what they had for a snack and what she did when they played outside. Every year she had at least one day of lunch bunch, which was a great learning tool for how lunch will be when she starts kindergarten. MGNS became like family to us and we are very sad to be leaving. But we will be back to visit! —Dawn Van Horn, McFarland
We drove over a half an hour to bring our inquisitive, gentle son to MGNS. After looking at many preschool programs, we knew that MGNS was exactly what we and he needed - A preschool with knowledgeable, kind teachers and a program that would stimulate his mind. Although not my personal goal, our son left MGNS ready for kindergarten. Thank you, MGNS, for giving our child a love for lifelong learning!"
— Aija and Erik Kins, Lake Mills
The cooperative nature of Monona Grove Nursery School creates an openness and transparency that you just don't see in other schools. You are welcomed, from the start, to be an integral part of your child's education." —Jessica, parent and board member
My daughter absolutely loves her class at MGNS. She has learned so much, and even more importantly, she is excited about learning. Every day, she asks if it's a school day. MGNS has amazing resources, excellent teachers, and a strong sense of community. We love MGNS!“
— Alyssa Luckey-Winters, Madison
MGNS 4-K class was our child's first exposure to school, and it was a perfect one. She learned so much about cooperation, clean-up, art, nature, Spanish words, letters and numbers, music, books and the joy of being part of a group! Her teachers are a perfect balance of temperaments and gifts. I feel as if our family hit the jackpot in this class at Monona Grove!” —Gwen Ebert, Madison
My son was in the afternoon 4K program at Monona Grove Nursery School. He loved the teachers and the play-based learning activities. He learned so much, including a foundation in English and Spanish phonemic awareness that has prepared him well for Kindergarten at Nuestro Mundo Community School. He made many friends from inside and outside the neighborhood, many of whom are in the same school again this year. We're so glad he was able to attend this program.” —Joshua Forehand, Principal of Nuestro Mundo Community School
As our family enters our 5th and final year at MGNS, I am struck by many feelings, mostly of gratitude. We are so fortunate to have been a part of this community. From the Toddler Time program, to preschool, 4K and lunch bunch, they have all been wonderful programs. The staff is caring and communicative, and being a part of a co-operative school has been a wonderful experience. I enjoy my time in the classroom, seeing my children at play. My kids making wonderful friendships and I too have made strong connections with other parents. Being on the board of directors has also been a great opportunity. To the supportive MGNS community, I say, "Thank you!"—Margo Duffy
MGNS is a loving, nurturing and joyful playing and learning environment, and a community of caring, intelligent and involved families who enrich each other's lives. It is so much more than just a place to "get ready for kindergarten." It is a place where my children are thriving and blossoming, and learning to follow their interests and discover new ones.”—Alison Downey, Madison
As a new mom with a high energy 15 month old, I could not have found a better learning environment for the both of us! Toddler Time gave us a safe, fun and nurturing environment where no question of mine was too silly to ask; as a new mother I looked forward to talking with other moms and dads to see how they dealt with all of the unknowns of raising kids! I now chase two high energy little boys around the halls and we feel blessed to be part of the Monona Grove Nursery School Community...I will always remember the day when my oldest son first sat through an entire story during circle time (Digger Man)...every mom and dad in the room...
